If you want to unlock an elite, I suggest going to PoF via the Spearmarshal's Lament if you have it and go through the hero points you find. Then, if you still need a few more, go to HoT and do the place of power hero points.
How do you unlock elite spec fast in gw2? Just levelling from 1-80 will get you enough points to unlock all the core traits and skills. Then you can get additional points from Hero Challenges in PvE maps - 1 point per challenge in core Tyria maps and 10 per challenge in HoT and PoF maps. These can be spent to unlock your elite specs.

PoF changed the unlock order so you could get a single line of traits fairly early in the unlocking process, so you can start playing the spec with a full traitline even if you don't have much choice in the traits you use and you're still
I have everything unlocked and still have 404 remaining hero points. At minimum if you were to not move outside the beginning instance, if you were to get to level 80 (ie: tomes of knowledge), you will have exactly enough hero points to unlock all skills and core specializations.
